Croatian Football Federation president Davor Šuker, head coach Ante Čačić, and team captain Darijo Srna were speking on the Saint-Etienne encounter against Czech Republic.
Czech comeback (2:2) following Croatia's lead (2:0) was marred by an incident at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard stands.
"I don't know what to say, this has become so usual in Croatian society, and playing behind closed doors is what already hurts the most. Croatian Football Federation is doing its job, and I call upon government institutions to do theirs. We'll ask French police fo help. This deserves zero tolerance. Croatia team was strong, showing initiative, and we regret this draw since we could have made it all clear when Mandžukić had a chance to make it 3:0. Even though everybody says that Croatia is the only team at the EURO 2016 that can dominate the opponent", said Croatian Football Federation president Davor Šuker.
Head coach Ante Čačić and team captain Darijo Srna were of similar views.
"I have to congratulate to my team, and also to Czech Republic for the comeback. They have made their opportunities count. We have dominated, had possession, created chances, but then experienced problems in Modrić injury and hooligan terrorism that does not belong here. Unfortunately, these hooligans still exist, and they disgrace Croatia in front of the entire Europe. The players are so passionate and proud, and need to be protected so they can do their job. It was a good performance, but we are very sad, since the majority of fans support us in the spirit of fair-play. It bothers me that the government does not deal with hooligans properly", said Čačić.
"We must not bow our heads. The loss of focus and conceding twice is also a part of football. I would like to look at the positives, considering the way we have played for 65 or 70 minutes we should not fear anyone. Everything is still open, we can reach the second round and that was our goal, and that would be a new beginning. The incidents have affected us, and this disgrace leaves a bitter taste. These hooligans do not belong here, we have already reached the bottom playing home matches behind closed doors", added Srna.
