On Saturday, Croatia national football team met in Zagreb to travel to Nanning, ready to face Chile in the China Cup semifinals.
Due to snow in Istanbul, Croatia travels to China via Vienna and Beijing, and awaits the Chile encounter on Wednesday, 11 January. The inaugural edition of China Cup also includes hosts China and Iceland.
"Croatia's goals are always the same, to give its best and to wear the national jersey with pride. These matches come after the winter break, but our internationals have been working, and are able to put in quality performances. I am convinced we can present our qualities to China, a country investing so much in football. Everyone will play at the required level", said Croatia head coach Ante Čačić.
"Chile squad also includes several less-known players, but they have the advantage of an earlier meeting and more training sessions. All opponents deserve respect, and we all known what a force Chile is in the world of football", he added.
Croatia international Mario Šitum of Dinamo Zagreb agrees, and believes that The Vatreni can win both matches in China.
"The primary objective is to present ourselves in a proper manner. Croatia is a great football nation, and our superstars have launched their careers from the homeland, and therefore we all want to prove our quality to coach Čačić. We do not go to China on holiday, and have great expectations. We can win both matches and come back home with the trophy", he said.
