Six Croatia internationals play for four clubs that reached the Champions League semifinals this season.
Following the return legs of Champions League quarterfinals, six Croatia internationals could celebrate the semifinals berth.
Luka Modrić and Mateo Kovačić defeated Bayern with the title-holders Real Madrid, while Atletico Madrid - without the injured Šime Vrsaljko - managed to overcome the Leicester City challenge.
Croatia goalkeeper Danijel Subašić of Monaco celebrated the success over Borussia Dortmund, while Juventus - with Mario Mandžukić, and without injured Marko Pjaca - beat Barcelona and ended Ivan Rakitić's participation in the competition.
Therefore, Croatia will have a player in the final for the sixth consecutive season: from Ivica Olić (Bayern, 2012) to Mario Mandžukić (Bayern, 2013), Luka Modrić (Real Madrid, 2014), Ivan Rakitić (Barcelona, 2015) and Luka Modrić (Real Madrid, 2016). Danijel Pranjić also defended Bayern's colours in 2012, while Mateo Kovačić joined Modrić in 2016.
