Finding the target against Finland allowed Croatia's striker Mario Mandžukić to rewrite national team history books.
Croatia's all-time top goalscorer is current Croatian Football Federation president Davor Šuker with 45 goals. On Friday, Mario Mandžukić scored his 30th international goal in a European Qualifier against Finland in Rijeka.
Previously, Mandžukić was tied at second place with Eduardo Alves da Silva with 29 goals. Eduardo managed to score them in 64 international matches, while Mandžukić was capped on 78 occasions, and the 31-year-old striker has further opportunity to improve his stats.
Unfortunately, due to injury, Mandžukić remains a doubt for the Ukraine encounter in Kiev on Monday.
Mandžukić made his debut for Croatia in November 2007 against Macedonia, and scored his first international goal in September 2008 against England.
