Croatia head coach Zlatko Dalić and Man of the Match Ivan Perišić held a press conference following the 2018 FIFA World Cup semifinals encounter with England.
Zlatko Dalić
"We all remember Lilian Thuram 20 years ago. This may be our opportunity to respond, but both teams deserved to reach the World Cup final. We'll do the best we can, even though France is a top team with world-class individuals. It will be a tough, great match to enjoy. Against England, we were the better side and took control, even after conceding. We have respected England, being aware of how they play, and tried to keep possession and a cool head. Croatia enjoyed this match, showing incredible strength and energy. I wanted to make a substitution, but nobody wanted off. No one was ready to give up. With every game in this World Cup, they were gaining more mental strength - and this tournament will be won by a disciplined, organized team rich in team spirit. Despite France having more days to rest, we will no seek excuses, but give our best. No alibis. This is a historic moment for Croatia and Croatian football. We have a heart, we have pride, we have quality players"
Ivan Perišić
"It was a really tough match, knowing what the World Cup semis mean to a small country like Croatia. We have once again started poorly, but regained composure and made a comeback. I have scored the equalizer in a key moment in second have, when Croatia started to dominate, and in extra-time I just headed the ball towards Mandžukić, who was at the right place. However, I've said many times, it doesn't matter who scores, as long as Croatia is winning. Thank you to everyone who supports us here in Moscow and back home in Croatia. I remember France '98, i was cheering our team and dreaming about scoring an important goal in the World Cup. France presented their real strength in the knockout stage - they play in biggest clubs, and are led by a top coach"
