UEFA has shortened the list of candidates for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year to three names, including Croatia captain Luka Modrić.
Shortly after the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where he won the Golden Ball award as the best player of the tournament, Luka Modrić was nominated for the FIFA The Best award, and on Monday he was presented as one of three remaining candidates for the UEFA Men's Player of the Year award.
Modrić's competition are his former Real Madrid teammate Cristiano Ronaldo of Portugal and Juventus, and Mohamed Salah of Egypt and Liverpool.
Before the brilliant silver-winning performances in Russia, Luka Modrić won his third consecutive, fourth in total, Champions League title.
Moreover, Modrić remains in the run for the Midfielder of the Year award, alongside Kevin de Bruyne and Toni Kroos. The award ceremony is scheduled for 30 August, simultaneously with the Champions League group stage draw.
