Croatian Football Federation acknowledges that, in a phone call, Borna Sosa has informed Croatia senior national team head coach Zlatko Dalić about his decision to represent Germany in the future.
Croatian Football Federation accepts and respects Borna Sosa's decision. Like any other player, he has the right to select the national team he wants to represent, in accordance with the FIFA Statutes.
HNS will never intrude into any of its national team head coaches' independence, but Sosa unquestionably was in the plans of the senior national team coaching staff, who were in contact with Sosa throughout the last six months. Moreover, Sosa was informed of the intention to include him in the squad for the March qualifiers, when - at the request of Croatia U-21 head coach Igor Bišćan - he was made available for the U-21 squad, with regard to the importance of the U-21 European Championships and the fact that he was suspended for the first two matches of March international window.
HNS and the senior national team coaching staff have considered Sosa an example of the player who was developed through Croatia's youth categories and became ready to give his contribution to the success of the senior squad - that was the natural path for many players, and that is the system that produced the current vice-champions of the world.
HNS will not comment the potential proceedings of the change of the association, since it is a FIFA matter, whereas HNS is not in possession of every relevant information. However, we have no doubt that FIFA will make a decision in accordance with all current statutes and regulations.
