Following the empty-handed introduction against Austria in Osijek, Zlatko Dalić's men continued this year's UEFA Nations League campaign against France in Split, in another World Cup final replay.
Before the kick-off, Croatia captain Modrić enjoyed a small ceremony for his 150th international cap. He made his first appearance in 2006 against Argentina, and received presents and standing ovations for a brilliant career in Croatia shirt.

Croatia's best chance in the first half came on 18 minutes, when Budimir took on Maignan in a one-on-one situation, while France responded through Diaby and Tchouameni, but Livaković provided excellent saves.
Soon after the break, France took the lead. Ben Yedder played Rabiot on, and he finds the target. Modrić could have celebrated his jubilee with an equalizer, but Maignan stopped his effort - as Livaković did with Griezmann in a promising position.

The Vatreni did not lack the desire to level the score, and they were rewarded on 83 minutes, when Kramarić converted a penalty to make it 1:1. Vlašić and Sučić could have brought the victory in the closing minutes, but it ended in a draw.
