In the final group stage encounter at the EURO 2024 in Germany, Croatia national football team drew 1:1 in Italy to finish third in Group B with two points. In order to progress to the second round, Croatia needs several other outcomes to come its way.
The first half in Leipzig was opened by a great Sučić's effort, followed by two excellent Livaković's saves. Croatia took the lead ten minutes into the second half, only a minute after Donnarumma saved Modrić's penalty kick.
It was Croatia's captain who responded magnificently, scoring on the rebound following Budimir's strike. That goal made Modrić the oldest goalscorer at the European Championships, with 38 years and 289 days.
That 1:0 was standing on the scoreboard until the last minute of added time, when Zaccagni scored the equalizer that sent Italy into the second spot. Spain won the group with all three victories, including today's 1:0 against Albania.
