Modrić: “A win for confidence and belief that we can be even better”

Speaking after the game, Modrić shared his thoughts:

“Thank God, we managed to earn three extremely important points. We wanted the victory, but it was not easy. It was a difficult match, and that was evident from start to finish. We played under pressure because everyone knew how important this game was, and you could feel that.

As the match went on, we had some very good periods, and I hope this victory will help us gain confidence and strengthen our belief in our quality, and that we will be even better in the matches ahead.”

Emotional scenes followed at the stadium as Modrić received a standing ovation from the crowd. After the match, he posed for photographs with supporters celebrating Croatia’s victory.

“It is truly incredible to reach 200 appearances in the jersey I love most. It makes me extremely proud—I could never have dreamed of it.

We move forward now, and I want to thank the fans for their support, everyone for their congratulations, and all those who make life easier for us players while representing the national team.”

The milestone places Modrić among the most-capped international footballers in history and adds another remarkable chapter to the career of one of Croatia’s greatest-ever players, Luka Modrić.
