Stanković: "We will try to take our chances"

Croatia head coach Mato Stanković summarized his impressions after the preparations in Novigrad. His team will travel without a white flag, despite the difficult group with Spain and Czech Republic.

"We are all waiting for the big matches. We have been very good during the preparations, but only the final result at the European Championship will show us what we have done. We have tried to correct our mistakes and analyzed opponents in order to hold them at bay", he said.

Croatia's first match is against Spain on January 29th, and the clash with the Czech Republic is scheduled two days later.

"It is difficult to discuss Spain, they haven't lost in years. We have thoroughly dissected their style of play, and a significant role will be played by goalkeepers, as well as the first minutes of match and our mental preparations. We will not surrender, yet we are aware that our chance is against the Czechs, who play at our level. They will wait for us fresh, but that doesn't have to mean anything. They may have more depth in the squad, but we have better individuals", says Stanković.

Croatia has already fulfilled its expectations, he emphasized: "The main goal was to qualify and we have done that. We will try to take our chances and make it to the next round".
