In accordance with the arrangement of the CFF and the Avita complex, Croatian national football team will be preparing for the FIFA World Cup 2014 in the Austrian resort of Bad Tatzmannsdorf.
For the third time in six years, Bad Tatzmannsdorf will host the best Croatian footballers during the preparations for a major tournament. CFF delegation, headed by the executive president Damir Vrbanović and head coach Niko Kovač, visited several candidates this week, and Bad Tatzmannsdorf has once again been recognized as the best choice.
Croatian national football team selected Bad Tatzmannsdorf for the preparations for the European Championships 2012, while this excellent cooperation began in 2008, when Avita was selected as the Croatian base for the European Championships in Austria and Switzerland.
"Even though other sites offered excellent conditions, we had no doubt that Bad Tatzmannsdorf is the best choice. As a player, I had a brilliant experience during EURO 2008 - the hosts have fantastic, and the working conditions perfect. Bad Tatzmannsdorf has all we need in this preparation phase and I am delighted that we will have an ideal situation", said head coach Niko Kovač.
Croatia will stay in Bad Tatzmannsdorf from May 21st until the friendly match at the end of the month. On June 3rd, Croatia will travel to Brazil, to Tivoli resort, selected for the World Cup base.
"We are thankful to all of the potential host who offered excellent working conditions and we will certainly have them in mind in the future. However, beautiful experience from Bad Tatzmannsdorf has convinced us that this is, by a narrow margin, the best choice. Once again, we have been shown extraordinary hospitality, and everything became even better thanks to the new hotel wing that will be reserved for Croatian team. Besides the hospitality, infrastructure is excellent, and the financial arrangement is also fantastic. The choice was, in the end, easy. We are delighted to be going once again to Bad Tatzmannsdorf, where we have twice reached superb form for the major tournaments", summarized the executive president Damir Vrbanović.
Croatia will play a friendly match against Australia on June 6th in Brazil, and the negotiations are still in progress for the opponent and the location for a friendly match at the end of May.
FIFA World Cup opening match between Brazil and Croatia is scheduled for June 12th in Sao Paulo, and six days later in Manaus Croatia will face Cameroon. Its third and final match in Group A Croatia will play on June 23th in Recife.
