Croatian national football team will open the EURO 2016 campaign against Malta at the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb.
The new UEFA format of European qualifiers introduced a large number of changes, new procedures and new requests for the national football federations. Therefore, it was necessary to select the venue for the match four months in advance, with the venue meeting all of the UEFA requirements.
Croatian Football Federation has selected the Maksimir Stadium in Zagreb for the qualifying match against Malta on September 9th, 2014. UEFA delegation led by venue manager Sonia Diaz is visiting Maksimir this week.
Ticket prices for the Malta encounter are staying the same as the prices for Maksimir matches in the previous qualifying round.
Davor Šuker, the president of the Croatian Football Federation, has announced that Croatia will play a friendly match in September - in Croatia, but outside Zagreb - before the match against Malta.
