Defeating Cameroon, Croatian internationals completed the first step toward their goal, reaching the World Cup second round.

Niko Kovač's men crushed Cameroon 4:0 in Manaus and await the decider against Mexico on Monday.

Croatia captain Darijo Srna praised his teammates and immediately commented on the upcoming match against Mexico:

"This was an excellent Croatian performance. My teammates have shown the desire from the first until the last minute, creating chances and scoring goals. Let the fans celebrate, we must prepare for Mexico. Mexico played extraordinarily in both matches and deserved respect, today it is not easy to beat anyone".

Ivan Perišić both scored and assisted, but avoids the spotlight:

"It does not matter who scores the goals, what matters is Croatia winning its matches. All of us have played well and gained more confidence. Mexico is a powerful team, but we are not afraid".

Perišić's Wolfsburg teammate, Ivica Olić, added:

"Perišić was brilliant, I believe it was he who decided the winner. It was an excellent assist for my first goal, and then he ran over the half a pitch to score the second. This was his best performance for Croatia, he is a player that has a lot to offer".

New Barcelona player Ivan Rakitić concluded:

"We have played very well and outplayed Cameroon. They put pressure on us in the opening minutes, but the most important thing was to score the first goal. Now we must recover for Mexico and go for the win".
