Croatian Football Federation has appointed Marijan Budimir the new head coach of the Croatia U-17 national team, before the upcoming Elite Round.
At the HNS headquarters, Marijan Budimir reached an agreement with president Marijan Kustić, technical director Stipe Pletikosa and chief instructor Petar Krpan to succeed Robert Jarni at the helm of Croatia U-17.
"I did not expect to have such a coaching career, but I didn't think twice when this opportunity came along. Croatia is above all, to take over a national team is a key objective to any coach. I would like to thank the HNS management for the confidence they have in me. Now we turn to the European Championship qualifiers, where Croatia is in a tough group, but as Croatia we have to strive for the top results", said Budimir.
During his playing career, the 43-year-old Budimir has defended Croatia colours in youth categories, while his most significant coaching achievement is UEFA Youth League final with Hajduk in 2023.
"I am convinced that we have found an excellent solution, since Marijan has already proved his quality in youth football. We're happy to sign a coach who has been an important part of Hajduk's success in UEFA Youth League. I would like to thank him for accepting our invitation, and wish him plenty of success. He'll have the maximum support, since the youth categories are a strategic priority for HNS. This appointment proves it", said HNS president Kustić.
