Led by head coach Siniša Oreščanin, Croatia’s U-19 national team recorded a major 3–0 victory over Serbia to secure a place in the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in Wales. The Young Vatreni needed not only a convincing win but also a defeat for Italy against Ukraine, and that is exactly how the group concluded.

Croatia started the match with clear determination and took the lead as early as the 9th minute. Following an excellent move involving Šutalo and Kusanović, Lovro Chelfi received the ball on the right wing and finished brilliantly with his left foot to make it 1–0.

Croatia continued to press and was rewarded in the 70th minute when Serbian goalkeeper Draškić made a costly mistake while playing out from the back. Tino Kusanović intercepted the move and set up Dino Godec, who rounded the goalkeeper and calmly scored for 2–0.

The victory and a place among Europe’s top four teams were sealed in the 87th minute. After Stojković committed a foul inside the penalty area, the referee awarded a penalty to Croatia, and Patrice Čović confidently converted from the spot to make it 3–0.

While the Young Vatreni were taking care of business on the pitch, the news they had been hoping for also arrived – Ukraine defeated Italy 1–0, opening the door to the semi-finals for Croatia.

Croatia will now face Spain in the semi-finals on July 8 at Central Park Stadium in Denbigh.
